HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Update: 6:25 p.m.

The Perry County Sheriff's Office identified the woman killed in a crash Thursday afternoon.

Frankie Crawford, 61, of Hazard was driving eastbound on Old Hwy. 80 toward Combs from Exit 56. Her vehicle lost control, left the road and hit a tree. The coroner pronounced Crawford dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigation revealed that wet road conditions led to the crash.

Update: 2 p.m.

Old Hwy. 80 in Hazard is reopened following a deadly crash that killed one person.

"We can't release her name at this time. We are waiting to have deputies contact family members, first of kin," said Perry County Sheriff Joe Engle.

The crash happened around noon in the curve near Colwell Video. No one else was in the car.

"It just makes you think, ya know, it could happen to anybody," said Matthew Couch, who heard the crash.

Officials suspect the car hydroplaned due to wet road conditions.
