FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY: Heavy rain and strong storm threat into the weekend
HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - A FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY continues through Sunday as rounds of showers and storms threaten to bring heavy rainfall that could lead to localized flash flooding along with one or two strong to severe storms.
Cloudy skies will be with us for this evening with some scattered showers arriving late in the evening. Those showers turn into a steady rain with even a few thunderstorms heading into the overnight. Storms will be capable of producing heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding. One or two storms may also be severe with damaging winds the main threat. Lows will be in the upper 60s to low 70s.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be with us throughout the day Saturday as again we could see locally heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding along with one or two storms on the strong to severe side with damaging winds and large hail the main threat. Highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to be with us into Saturday evening with generally cloudy skies overnight. Lows will be in the upper 60s to low 70s.
More scattered showers and thunderstorms will be with us for the day Sunday especially early on in the day. Activity turns more isolated into the afternoon as we see highs in the mid to upper 80s. More scattered activity will be with us for the evening with a few more showers and thunderstorms overnight. Lows will be in the upper 60s to low 70s.
Finally some quieter weather arrives by Monday but the temperature starts to go up. Expect a mix of sun and clouds for Monday but it will be hot and humid with highs in the low to mid 90s, feeling more like the mid to upper 90s.
The heat continues to build into the middle part of next week. Highs will again be in the low to mid 90s Tuesday and in the mid to upper 90s Wednesday and Thursday. The heat index will look to top out 100-105 degrees each of those days.
We will look to bring some scattered showers and storms back into the picture towards the end of next week as we keep the heat cranking with highs in the mid to upper 90s and a heat index of 100-105.
