Zak Willis resigns as Union football coach

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Union College head football coach Zak Willis resigned Thursday, school officials told WYMT.

Willis guided the Bulldogs to a 6-23 record during nearly three years as head coach.

Heading into Saturday's game at Bluefield (Va.), Union was 4-5 and coming off a 20-7 win over the University of Pikeville.

Longtime assistant coach Andre Linn was named interim head coach of the Bulldogs, Union spokesman Jay Stancil told WYMT.

The search for Willis' permanent successor will begin soon, Stancil said.

Following Saturday's game at Bluefield, Union will wrap up the regular season Nov. 12 at home vs. Faulkner.
