Kentucky falls to Seton Hall in overtime thriller

NEW YORK, Ny (WYMT)- The Kentucky Wildcats had their work cut out for them Saturday in the Citi Hoops Classic against Seton Hall.

The Pirates would lead the game early 12-11 before the ninth-ranked team opened up a 31-25 lead at halftime.

In the second, Seton Hall would overcome a 39-32 deficit going on an 11-0 run to lead 43-39.

The teams would trade blows swapping the lead.

Seton Hall would bury a three to tie the game with less than a minute left. The Pirates would get the ball back with less than a minute seprating the game clock from the shot clock.

Powell would get the ball again and knock down another triple from the corner giving Seton Hall the lead 70-67 with 1.5 seconds left in the game.

But the Pirates gave the Wildcats too much time. Keldon Johnson hit a half court shot to force overtime.


In the encore, the two would remain close. Myles Powell's three ball kept the Pirates in the ball game, but Keldon Johnson would match giving Kentucky the lead with less than a minute to go in overtime.

Down two, Seton Hall would bury the three ball with 10 seconds left winning the game 84-83.

Myles Powell would lead Seton Hall with 28 points.

Thw Wildcats fall to 7-2 on the season.

Kentucky will play Utah Saturday at Rupp Arena. Tip time is set for 5 PM.
