Wildcats, Volunteers to meet for third time with a trip to the SEC Championship game on the line


NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WYMT) - For the third time this season, the No. 4 Kentucky Wildcats (27-5) will meet the No. 8 Tennessee Volunteers (28-4).

The two teams split the regular season series with each team winning on their home court.

The Wildcats defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide 73-55 to make it to Saturday's semifinal, with the Volunteers winning by seven points over Mississippi State.

UK is 42-2 in SEC Tournament semifinal games. This marks UK’s sixth consecutive appearance in the semifinals.

UK leads the Tennessee series, 155-72. The Wildcats are 12-4 vs. Tennessee in the SEC Tournament, including 5-1 in semifinal games.

Saturday’s semi is at approximately 3:30 p.m. EDT (2:30 p.m. CDT in Nashville). The game will be televised on ESPN.
