(WYMT) - The second game of Friday's all-Mountain finals will feature two big-time programs and two legendary head coaches. Undefeated and third-ranked Bell County takes on 10-3 Belfry for the Class 3A title.
The game features the two winningest head coaches of all-time in Kentucky high school football. Philip Haywood and Dudley Hilton have combined for 841 wins and nine championships.
Bell County got here by way of defeating Taylor County, 46-28. The Bobcats pulled away late after Taylor County got to within five points.
On the other hand, Belfry needed two overtimes to get past DeSales. The Pirates and Colts went scoreless in regulation, before both scored touchdowns in the first two overtimes. The Pirates then went for two after DeSales called a timeout, and Isaac Dixon found the corner of the end zone to send Belfry into the state title game.
The two schools meet on Friday at 7 p.m. If Belfry wins, they would take home their 7th state title, while it would be Bell County's third championship. All of these would be under their current head coaches, Philip Haywood and Dudley Hilton respectively.
