LEXINGTON, Ky (WYMT)- Leslie County's Tim Couch returned to Kroger Field Saturday as the Kentucky Wildcats hosted Florida.
After playing both football and basketball for the Eagles, Couch suited up for Kentucky from 1996-98.
Couch, the 1998 SEC Player of the Year and Heisman Finalist, still holds the conference record for passing yards in a season.
After playing three years in Lexington, Couch was drafted in the 1999 NFL Draft with the first overall pick to the Cleveland Browns.
When Couch returned on Saturday, he took a moment to reflect what he was able to do in his football career.
"Number One draft picks don't come from that area. To be able to accomplish what I did, first time All-American, Heisman Trophy Finalist, SEC Player of the Year, Number 1 pick in the NFL Draft and all the stuff I accomplished means so much more to me now looking back at it 20 years later because I did work really hard at it and I had some really good coaches and great teammates, so im really proud of what I was able to accomplish in my career. "
Tim Couch says he hopes to make it to a Leslie County game this season.
Couch is also nominated as a class inductee for this year's College Football Hall of Fame.
