Three-peat: Knott Central wins an overtime-thriller over Letcher Central

JACKSON, Ky. (WYMT) - Knott Central was down 10 towards the end of the third quarter but put together a furious comeback to force overtime against Letcher Central. The Lady Patriots outscored Letcher Central 14-9 to clinch their third straight trip to the Girls' Sweet Sixteen.

Keara Mullins came up big for the Lady Pats with 26 points, including 11 in OT while shooting 8-10 from the line in the extra frame. Brooke Bates led the Lady Cougars with 21 points in the game.

This was the fourth meeting between the two district rivals. Knott Central won the first two match-ups before the Lady Cougars took the 53rd District championship. The Lady Pats got revenge and will head to Rupp Arena.

Knott Central will take on the 11th Region winner. Scott County, a top-five team in the state, and Henry Clay play for the championship on Tuesday, March 5th.
