Three Mountain teams punch their tickets to compete for a State title

(WYMT) - Three Eastern Kentucky teams will head to Lexington next weekend to compete for a state championship in their respective classes.

The Pikeville Panthers will compete against the Beechwood Tigers for the Class 1A title Friday afternoon at 2 p.m.

The last time that Pikeville made the state title game was in 2015, who did they meet? Beechwood. The Panthers won that game, but since then, the Tigers have won 12-straight post-season games including back-to-back state titles.

Watch that last matchup in the attached video for the Pikeville Panthers.

The Corbin Redhounds are also headed back to the Class 3A state after defeating Boyle County Friday night.

Corbin will meet Central in the title game this upcoming Friday night at 7 p.m.

The Redhounds and Yellow Jackets game came down to the very end last year, watch the highlight call from Sports Overtime in attached the Corbin video above.

Lastly, Johnson Central is back in the 4A State Championship for the fourth year in a row. They'll meet the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats for the third straight year Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
