CORBIN, Ky. (WYMT) - The Lady Cardinals of South Laurel put up 30 first-quarter points and 54 total first-half points to end Bell County's season with a 72-30 win.
South Laurel used pressure to turn the Lady Cats over and get out in transition. Bell County had 24 turnovers on the night. Amerah Steele led the Lady Cardinals with 24 points and seven rebounds. Ally Collett and Sydnie Hall also chipped in with 15 and 12 points respectively. Collett added seven assists and seven rebounds Abigail Cornett was the only Lady Cat in double figures with 10 points.
With the win, South Laurel advances to the 13th Region semifinals where they meet a familiar foe in North Laurel. The two split the season series, with each team winning at home. The Lady Cardinals won 64-57 on January 11th, a game where Ally Collett became the program's all-time leading scorer. The Lady Jags avenged that loss with a 77-69 win about a week later.
