Six Mountain teams headed to state, four will play each other

HAZARD, Ky (WYMT)- On Friday, its an all-mountain state championship day at Kroger Field.

Pikeville and Paintsville will kick off the tournament on Friday at 2 p.m. The Panthers (13-0) beat Paintsville (11-3) earlier in the year 9-8.

Bell County and Belfry will play in the second and final game on Friday at 7 p.m. Dudley Hilton and Philip Haywood started their coaching careers against each other. Now the two will end the 2019 season against each other.

On Saturday, two more teams will play for a chance at the title. Somerset (13-1) will play Mayfield (13-1) at 1 p.m.

Johnson Central (14-0) will play in their 5th straight title game Saturday at 4:30 against Boyle County (14-0)

Douglass and Covington Catholic will play Saturday at 8:00 p.m. for the 5A title while Male and Trinity will play for the 6A title Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
