Sheldon Clark looking to surprise teams this season

INEZ, Ky. (WYMT) - Last year Sheldon Clark went 11-20 overall, but the Cardinals bring back most of their key pieces this season.

With a younger team, the Cardinals feel like their improvement from the off-season will surprise some teams this season.

"Defense we are going to try and slow the other team down more, keep them at our pace," said Trey James. "We aren't a bunch of track stars out there. Offense, move around quick, keep them moving, have quick hitters."

"Just really like intensity, we try to pick up on defense, just move the ball around, get it into Trey," said Braden Walker.

"We've all been in the gym since this summer just putting in work, just practice every day, six days a week," said Braxton Maynard. "We've got young talent coming in too, putting in the work, so we have plenty of bodies."

"Just playing together, knowing how to feed Trey the ball because he is obviously our best player, just working really hard in the off-season," said Jordan Dalton.

"A really good lockdown defensive team and a good scoring one too," said Nick Maynard.

"I think they are going to be really surprised, one by how better Trey has gotten and how much better the other guys have gotten," said head coach Jason James. "I think pre-season we were at number 10, and I think they are going to shock a lot of people."
