Several Mountain athletes make the Courier Journal's all-state basketball teams

(WYMT) - The Courier Journal released their all-state basketball teams for the 2018-2019 season, voted on by the coaches, and a number of Eastern Kentucky athletes found their names on the list.

On the boys' side, South Laurel's JJ Ramey brought in first team all-state honors. The senior will continue his basketball career at UPIKE next season. Fellow Cardinal Ally Collett joins Ramey on the first team on the girls' side. The junior has one more year with the Lady Cardinals before heading to Western Kentucky University.

Shelby Valley's Cody Potter (boys) and Knott Central's Jada Higgins (girls) both made the second team. Amerah Steele of South Laurel and Raegan Hubbard of North Laurel both made the third team for the girls, while Perry Central's Noah Back took home third team honors on the boys side.

In the honorable mention category, Matthew Cromer (South Laurel), Nick Martin (Knox Central), Kobe Bowling (Buckhorn), Jalen Taulbee (Breathitt County), Trey James (Sheldon Clark), Jacob Rice (Johnson Central), and Brady Whitaker (Magoffin County) all received honors on the boys side.

Regi Cundiff (Southwestern), Kaylee Mathis (Clay County), Lexy Meyers (Leslie County), Hailey Smith (Wolfe County) and Anna Keeton (Paintsville) all received honorable mention honors on the girls side.
