HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Perry Central's Lucas Davis signed with UPIKE to play soccer Thursday afternoon.
The Perry Central defender was a part of this year's Commodore team that won the 14th region championship, the program's fifth in a row overall.
Davis says he did not play much on those previous teams, but it's hard work that got him to this point to be the first signee under head coach Ray Fletcher.
"Went in this year, I've always sat the bench for the past three years," Davis said. "I busted my butt and worked as hard as I could, and now I get a chance to play college soccer and I'm excited."
"Great to see that the dividends of our success and how hard we work - incredible to see those in action," said Perry Central Soccer head coach Ray Fletcher. "This one's a little special. He's my first ever signee as a head coach, so it means a tremendous amount."
