Perry Central Commodores hope experience can carry team

PERRY CO, Ky (WYMT)- Perry Central has a simple mindset when aiming for this year's goal.

"Just playing for the seniors. It is our last year. Go out and have fun. Try and go out and win the region. Win District. WYMT is a big game we can win," said Senior Cameron Turner.

Coach Shannon Hoskins says its possible, but achieving these goals started in the summer.

"Whether that is likely our not it depends on how hard we will work and the road this team takes," said Head Coach Shannon Hoskins.

"We have been working hard in practice and in the weight room. We haven't taken any days off," said Senior Noah Back.

The team isn't so focused on the physical aspect of their game, but the mental side.

"I felt like last year in that region game Knott county, they just mentally and physically whipped us. You can't always fix physically but you can always do something about mentally," said coach Hoskins.

"We lost four starters last year and a lot of leaders but we got a lot of playing time this year so we will be just as good as we were last year," said senior Dylan Chaney.

While the Commodores return five Seniors they also field a lot of depth.

"We got a bunch of young guys that are coming up that will help us a lot. We are about 12 men deep, and people coming off the bench that can help us a lot," said Noah Caudill.

"We got a whole basketball team We got people that can score inside. Just consistent players" said Jayden Neace.

The recipe they hope can lead them up Highway 15 to Rupp.

Perry Central comes in at No. 10 in the preseason boys' basketball Alice Lloyd College Mountain Top 10.
