CORBIN, Ky. (WYMT) - Anytime North Laurel and South Laurel get together, it's sure to be a good game. This one was no different with the stakes raised. The Lady Jags held off a 4th quarter run from South Laurel to move on to the 13th Region final with a 64-59 victory.
North Laurel was up one at halftime, before extending their lead to ten at the end of three. The Lady Jags were up by as much as 11 in the fourth quarter before the Lady Cardinals came storming back. South Laurel took a one point lead with 46 seconds left. On the ensuing possession, Isabel Gray was fouled shooting a three. She went 2-3 from the line to give North Laurel the lead for good.
South Laurel could not convert on any chances in the final possessions and the Lady Jags held on for the win.
Ally Collett and Amerah Steele from South Laurel led the scoring with 25 and 22 points respectively. North Laurel had four players in double figures, led by Isabel Gray, who had 14 points to go along with nine rebounds, five assists and four steals.
The Lady Jaguars take on Harlan County in the 13th Region final on Monday, March 4th at Corbin Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
