No. 8 Kentucky downs No. 9 Kansas in SEC/Big 12 Challenge

LEXINGTON, Ky (WYMT)- It was a crazy "Cat"urday all day long in Lexington as College Gameday made the trip to Rupp Arena before Kentucky battled with Kansas.

Number 8 Kentucky (16-3) lived up to the hype beating Number 9 Kansas (16-4) 71-63.

Kentucky improved to 4-1 this season vs. an AP Top 25 opponent this season including three in a row. It is UK's third straight victory over a ranked opponent since 2014-15

Ried Travis, who is familiar with Kansas after his time in Stanford, scored 18 points and recorded 12 rebounds for the Cats, while P.J. Washington led the team with 20 points and 13 points.

Kentucky leads the series against the Jayhawks 23-9 and 8-2 in Lexington.

The Wildcats will travel to Vanderbilt Tuesday to take on the Commodores who are still looking for their first SEC win.
