LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - One of the best college basketball rivalries once again lived up to its billing Saturday afternoon in Louisville. Number 16 Kentucky (10-2) ventured to the KFC Yum! Center to battle with the Cardinals (9-4).
The teams stayed close in the early going until Tyler Herro heated up, bumping the Wildcats out to a 14 point lead with just over six to play in the first half.
Herro tallied 14 first-half points on 6-8 shooting, 2-4 3 FG. Herro would go on to finish with 24 which led all scorers.
Kentucky led 35-27 at the halftime break.
The Wildcats maintained that lead throughout the entirety of the second half, going on to win, 71-58.
It's another road game next weekend for Kentucky as conference play begins in Tuscaloosa. UK and Alabama tip-off next Saturday at 1 p.m. on ESPN.
