WEST POINT, Ga. – No. 11 Union College continues to march forward as it collected an 81-64 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) victory over host Point University (Ga.) on Saturday.
With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 18-6 overall and 13-4 in conference play, while the Skyhawks drop to 7-18 overall and 5-13 in the AAC.
Play was tight early only as there were one lead change and three ties. Union took a 21-12 lead following a Jabari Antwine 3-pointer. Yet, Point used an 11-2 run to even the ledger. Taboris Griggs drained a 3-pointer to make it 23-all with 7:53 to go in the first half.
However, the Bulldogs put the game out of reach as they closed the half on a 27-7 stretch for a 50-30 halftime lead. Derek Morgan chipped in 10 points during the decisive run with DeMarkus Loman adding eight.
During the second half, Union led by as much as 22 with Point cutting the deficit to 69-59 with 4:47 remaining. But that was as close as the Skyhawks could get as the Bulldogs registered the 81-64 win.

Loman nearly missed recording a double-double as he posted a team-high 22 points and nine rebounds. He hit 9-of-17 shots from the floor.

The Bulldogs hit 50 percent (32-of-64) of their shots, while the Skyhawks struggled from the field as they made only 27.1 percent (19-of-70).
Three Bulldogs scored in double figures. After Loman, K.J. Duronslet knocked in 20 on 8-of-13 shooting, and Morgan hit 7-of-10 shots in chipping 14 points.
Union outrebounded Point 46-43, but the Skyhawks hauled in 21 offensive boards.
Union is 14-3 against Point since the Skyhawks joined the AAC in 2012.
