GREENVILLE, Sc (WYMT)- Despite shooting just 6 of 32 from the field in the first half, Kentucky battled back in the second half to force overtime against Missouri.
In the closing minutes of the second quarter, Missouri broke the tie going on a 10-0 run to give the Tigers a 27-19 lead at the break.
In the second half, shooting woes continued to hinder the Wildcats, as Maci Morris finished just 2-12 from the field. However, UK stepped up defensively winning the turnover battle 26-9.
With 5:55 left in the fourth, Kentucky took the lead for the first time thanks to Freshman Rhyne Howard.
The two would trade the lead for the remaining time in regulation leading to OT.
In the extra period, Howard would put Kentucky on the board first. She finished with 25 points.
Missouri's Sophie Cunningham was too much though, scoring 29 points.
The Tigers will advance to Saturday's Semi-Finals for the first time. Tip off is slated for 5 p.m. Eastern time agaist Mississippi State.
