BIRMINGHAM, AL. (WYMT) - From Harlan to Lexington, former Lady Black Bear Blair Green continues to impress.
"Blair Green is a Kentucky kid and someone who has just come in with the kind of toughness, tenacity and the hustling spirit that we really value here at Kentucky," said Kentucky Women's Basketball Head Coach Matthew Mitchell at the SEC Basketball Media Days in Birmingham, Alabama.
Green is entering her freshman season with the Kentucky Wildcats, and despite being new to the team, head coach Matthew Mitchell says that he is impressed with what she brings to the court.
"She is a explosive athlete, very fast, great great explosive leaper off of the floor, has great length and can finish around the basket in some creative ways. Is a great shooter," Mitchell said. "I've just been blow away with her preparation she had. She came in in great shape, she stays in great shape, she hustles every single day."
Green shinned as a senior at Harlan County High School, helping lead the Lady Black Bears to the KHSAA State Tournament. She averaged 26 points and 6.5 rebounds per game as a senior, hitting 59.3 percent from the field.
Mitchell thinks that the Big Blue Nation will be pleased with how well she will play this season.
"I think you are going to be excited to see her take the floor for Kentucky."
