HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Friday night during the WYMT Food City Mountain Classic, local singer Marlana VanHoose sang the national anthem.
Marlana started singing and playing piano at a young age.
It was discovered Marlana was blind when she was a few weeks old and she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when she was two.
The singer won the 2012 and 2015 Youth Artist of the Year awards from the Artist Music Guild.
She has performed at numerous University of Kentucky and other national sporting events, at Carnegie Hall in New York City and the 2016 Republican National Convention.
In 2017, she was one of only a dozen people selected to perform at the Presidential Inaugural Concert at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.
