BAXTER, Ky. (WYMT) - Kids from all over made their way to Harlan County High School Wednesday for a special occasion.
"We had kids from Leslie County to Tennessee, Forge Ridge, Tennessee coming in," said Harlan County girls' basketball head coach Debbie Green.
Those kids had the chance to see a couple of their favorite Wildcats as former Harlan County Black Bear Blair Green and Bell County's Maci Morris came back to the mountains for the Harlan County Girls' Basketball Camp.
"Each day they touched on what they had to sacrifice, what their day is like in the life of being a Lady Cat," said coach Green.
The two mountain standouts shared their experiences on the basketball court, helping be role models for the younger girls.
"Not many people go on to play Division I basketball or Division I in general from this area," said Morris. "So just to be that role model for them, I wear that with pride because I want to be able to show them that anybody from here can make it if you put in the work."
"Being able to come back from UK, especially me and Maci," said Blair Green. "Just coming back, and we've learned so much that we can bring back and teach them. What we've learned and how to help them and how to get them to prepare for the next level. So it's just been awesome."
