Late three-point shooting lifts No. 6 Hazard to win over Phelps

Hazard withstands Phelps 61-55 in the WYMT-Food City Mountain Basketball Classic, presented by Kentucky Farm Bureau and sponsored by ARH.

Late three-point shooting lifted the Bulldogs to 4-0. The game was tightly contested throughout as Hazard took a 32-26 lead. The teams traded the lead in the third quarter before the Bulldogs took control in the fourth.

Hazard's Logan Hall and Phelps' Trey Francis lead the scoring with 18 points each.

With the win, Hazard moves on to Friday night's semifinal match-up against Martin County. The Bulldogs defeated the Cardinals, 80-63 during the first week of the high school basketball season.

The loss drops Phelps to 1-3 on the year. They take on Harlan in the consolation round on Saturday at 1 p.m.
