LMU Volleyball earns bid to NCAA tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, In- The Lincoln Memorial women's volleyball team has punched its ticket to the 2018 NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championship, earning the No. 7 seed for the Southeast Regional, it was announced on Sunday. The Lady Railsplitters will face second-seeded USC Aiken in the opening round of the NCAA tournament at 2:30 on Thursday, November 15 in Wingate, N.C.

Lincoln Memorial (20-9) will be making the seventh NCAA tournament appearance in program history and second in the past three years. The Lady Railsplitters aims to win its first NCAA tournament match since 2008 when they take on the Pacers (21-4) on Thursday.

Lincoln Memorial finished third in the South Atlantic Conference standings and made a run to the SAC Championship title match on Saturday, where they were denied the first conference title in program history by Wingate in a four-set thriller. USC Aiken won the Peach Belt Conference regular-season title.

The entire Southeast Regional will be hosted by top-seeded Wingate University at Cuddy Arena. Other opening round matchups include No. 3 Augusta vs. No. 6 Georgia College, No. 4 Anderson vs. No. 5 Lander and No. 1 Wingate vs. No. 8 Emmanuel.

The winner of the LMU/USC Aiken match will face the winner of the Augusta/Georgia College match on Friday at 5 p.m.
