(WYMT) - The College Football Playoff rankings were released Tuesday night, and just like the AP Poll and the Amway Coaches Poll, the Kentucky Wildcats made the list.

Kentucky was ranked as the number nine team in the first CFP Top 25 poll for this season.

The Wildcats boast a 7-1 record, coming off of a thrilling victory in Columbia Missouri, a game that saw Kentucky win in walk-off fashion, 15-14.

Kentucky's record is the program's best eight-game start of a season since 1977, when the Cats went 10-1.

Alabama tops the poll, with Clemson, LSU and Notre Dame making the playoffs as well.

Michigan was the first team out at number five.

The Georgia Bulldogs are ranked sixth heading into Saturday's SEC East Championship with the Wildcats.
