LEXINGTON, Ky (WYMT)- Johnson Central is bringing the 2019 Class 4A State Title back to Paintsville.

The Golden Eagles defeated Boyle County 21-20.

Despite a slow start on the first two drives, Johnson Central was able to go shot for shot with the Rebels. Four Boyle County turnovers helped Johnson Central get the win.

Boyle County would score with 15 seconds remaining in the third but miss the extra point, which was the deciding factor.

After the game, Johnson Central Coach Jim Matney talked to WYMT's Willie Hope.

"I don't know, God is good. I'm very fortunate. I wish everyone has a blessed life like I do," Matney said.

The Golden Eagles were also able to avenge the last two years in which they lost on the very same field.

"I told y'all we were going to bring it back last year. I told you we were gonna bring it back and that's what we did," Quarterback Riley Preece said.
