Johnson Central heading back to 15th Region championship after a one-point win over Shelby Valley

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - It was a hard fought game, but the Johnson Central Lady Eagles pulled out an instant classic over Shelby Valley 47-46 to advance to their third-straight 15th Region championship game.

The Lady Cats had a six-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, but Johnson Central erased that lead and had a one-point edge with five seconds to go. Shelby Valley came up short on the last-second shot, giving the Lady Eagles the win.

Hannah Fitch (13 points), Alaina Castle (11 points) and Sammi Sites (10 points) were all in double figures for the Lady Eagles. Alyssa Newsom had 16 points to lead Shelby Valley. Alyssa Elswick chipped in with 11 points, and Cassidy Rowe had seven points and eight assists.

Johnson Central will take on Pikeville in a rematch of last season's region final, a game in which the Lady Eagles won 56-51.
