MCKEE, Ky. (WYMT) - The Jackson County Lady Generals started the 2018-19 season off on the right note, winning their first match-up of the season Tuesday night.
They have a new head coach leading the way this season in Kourtney Tyra.
With most of their team back from a year ago when the team tallied 13 ins, the Lady Generals have high hopes for this year.
"I'm excited for our season overall, we didn't really lose anybody, we are the same team as last year except better," said senior Raelon Creech.
"We are a lot more experienced, we have played with each other for years. We've just, we've come together a lot and play well together," said senior Alexis Creech.
"Winning District. I'm confident that we'll that we'll have a better chance and we are better experienced and I feel like it will be a good year," said senior Sara Mulligan.
"Be patient, cutting down turnovers, getting the ball out of the net fast," said junior Taya Davis on what the team worked on during the off-season. "Moving faster, just in general, picking the speed up on everything."
"I've had a blast so far, I love being the head coach," said first-year head coach Kourtney Tyra. "I've been an assistant coach for four years at the college and high school level and being a head coach is just so exciting, I look forward to every day coming to practice to work with these girls. They work really really hard and I think we will have a really good season."
