Food City Flashback: Peyton Broughton scores the most points ever in a Mountain Classic game

(WYMT) - Wednesday's Food City Flashback takes us back to January 6, 2017, when North Laurel's Peyton Broughton dropped 56 points against the Harlan County Black Bears.

The 56 points snapped Matt Day's previous record of 47 points in 2012.

Broughton had 19 first-half points, then went off in the second half, dropping 37 points. In total Broughton knocked down 12 two-pointers, only two three-pointers, but he attempted 29 free throws and made 26 of those.

North Laurel would fall in that game though, 82-78. Broughton made up over 70-percent of the Jaguars' points.
