Food City Flashback: Maci Morris shines on Mountain Classic stage
As Marlana VanHoose sang the national anthem, fans at the 2015 mountain classic were in for a treat. They would see Kentucky basketball commit Maci Morris one final time on one of the mountain's biggest stages.
Morris and the Bell County Lady Cats came into the championship game looking for back to back Mountain Classic titles.
The Lady Cats rolled through Clay County in game number one. Awaiting them in the final, the Leslie County Lady Eagles.
Morris got things going early, helping the lady cats to back to back state titles, which is tied with Harlan County for most in Girls Mountain Classic history. Morris also scored 22 points in the final, which is tied for third mountain in a girls championship.
The UK commit would go on to achieve great success, as she now plays overseas in Italy. But for one week in January, her star shone bright on the biggest stage in the mountain, and she delivered a taste of things to come.
