BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Leodis Moore III was chosen as the Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week after intercepting two passes in a 17-13 win at Austin Peay, the league announced on Sunday.
The 5-foot-9, 190-pound linebacker was also chosen as the Madness Ohio Valley Defensive Player of the Week by College Sports Madness.
Moore intercepted a pass and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown with 8:12 left in the third quarter to cut the Austin Peay lead to 13-10. Moore's second interception of the game stopped a Governor drive at the EKU 29 yard line with 6:33 left in the game and the Colonels still trailing by three. The offense then drove 71 yards on six plays to score what proved to be the winning touchdown.
The Indianapolis, Indiana native ended the game with his two interceptions, eight tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss and a pass break-up.
Moore now has five interceptions this season. He leads the OVC and is seventh in the nation with an average of 0.6 picks per game. The redshirt junior is fourth on the team with 43 tackles.
This is the second time this season Moore has been named OVC Defensive Player of the Week.
The Colonels will play their final regular season home game on Saturday when Robert Morris visits Roy Kidd Stadium. The game will begin at 1:05 p.m.
