LEXINGTON, Ky. (WYMT) - Kentucky women's basketball opened up its 45th season Wednesday night with a battle against the Alabama State Lady Hornets.
The Lady Hornets put up a fight in the first quarter and only trailed by one point, 15-14.
Following that, Kentucky got rolling on all cylinders and kept it on cruise control, holding Alabama State to single digits each of the final three quarters, resulting in an 87-35 final score.
Kentucky even went on a 22-0 to finish the third quarter and kept it going through the majority of the fourth quarter.
The Eastern Kentucky duo Maci Morris and Blair Green were key contributors in the victory. Green knocked down 13 points on 5-10 shooting, 1-3 from 3 PT. Morris was right behind with 11 points of her own and was 3-6 from three.
Kentucky is back in action on Sunday evening when the Wildcats host Southern University.
