HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Big Blue Nation was out in full force as the Big Blue Caravan rolled into Eastern Kentucky.
"It's pretty cool to get to see all the coaches you see on tv and stuff," said Gabe Hall, a Kentucky fan from Hazard.
Coaches from the men's and women's soccer teams, gymnastics, and women's basketball team were all on hand.
"I love everything about UK, especially men's basketball. I travel everywhere to watch them play," said Hall.
Women's basketball head coach Matthew Mitchell made an appearance and stressed the importance of Big Blue Nation.
"And when we bring recruits in they can tell this is a special place, that Kentucky is unique. I think that the way the whole state rallies around us is unique," said Mitchell.
Mitchell is no stranger to Eastern Kentucky. He has had much experience in this part of the commonwealth, including recruiting two mountain women to play for him.
"You know when I was going down to recruit Maci and Blair, you know, our two most recent players from the region," said Mitchell.
Mitchell is proud to coach basketball at the University of Kentucky and appreciates the support Big Blue Nation gives, and especially the members of BBN in Eastern Kentucky.
"To have a chance to come to this special part of the state and meet these special people," said Mitchell.
