JACKSON, Ky. (WYMT) - Last year, the Breathitt County Lady Bobcats won the 55th District and advanced to the semifinal of the 14th Region. The Lady Bobcats will have a new face at the helm this year in Derek Goff.

"I love it. He's one of my favorite people ever," Junior Point Guard Kaylee Clemons said. "Just ready to see what he has for us."

Derek Goff "Happy to be stepping in with these girls and filling this role and doing what I can to promote them and help them win. Whatever it takes," Goff said about taking over as Breathitt County's new girls' basketball head coach.

The Bobcats are prepared to defend their district title and embrace the target on their backs.

"We love the atmosphere. We like when peoples like they want to be against us," Clemons said. "We love it. Just makes us better."

"I love it. I love the attention we get and I'm ready to play and show them why we won and keep pushing," Senior Center Bayleigh Miller added.

The Lady Bobcats start the season against Perry Central on December 2nd.
