Anna Scarbrough takes aim at World Archery Youth Championships

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Most kids don't grow up and dream of being world-class archers. The University of Pikeville's Anna Scarbrough certainly didn't.

"I started in 4-H when I was 11. I kinda just randomly, out of the blue was like 'hey, I wanna try this,'" Scarbrough said, a freshman archer at UPIKE.

The random impulse lasted for Scarbrough.

"I started competing when I was like 13," Scarbrough said. "Now I go to about seven national tournaments a year."

Through a lot of hours of practice, the 18-year old will make her way to Madrid, Spain for the World Archery Youth Championships.

"It's really cool, it's exciting. I think it's still kinda - I'm not really gonna realize I'm going until I'm actually there," Scarbrough said. "You don't really believe it that you're actually going to some other country to shoot."
