Wild weather with Hooked on Science

HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - "Mr. Science" Meteorologist Jason Lindsey stopped by the WYMT studio Thursday morning to do some science experiments.

Lindsey reminds kids to never eat or drink their experiments, make sure there is an adult around and always wear the appropriate safety gear.

Lindsey used a fan and a streamer to demonstrate a tornado. Once he turns the fan on, the streamer spins up into the air in a vortex.

Next Lindsey demonstrated Bernoulli's principle. He created high pressure on one side of the streamers and low pressure on the other side.

The faster the air flows, the lower the pressure is. The slower the air flows, the higher the pressure is.

You can see Jason Lindsey's weekly Hooked on Science segments on Saturday on Mountain News Weekend Edition at 7 a.m.
