In a news release, the governor's office announced three new positive cases of the novel coronavirus. This brings the total number of cases in Kentucky to 25.
Here are the numbers broken down by county:
Jefferson: 7
Fayette: 7
Harrison: 6
Montgomery: 2
Clark: 1
Nelson: 1
Bourbon: 1
These numbers include the patient in Harrison County that fully recovered and the 66-year-old man in Bourbon County that died from the virus.
Governor Andy Beshear is giving Monday's latest COVID-19 update.
As of Monday evening, Kentucky has one new positive case - a 34-year-old woman in Jefferson County. This means 22 cases so far in the commonwealth.
During his announcement, the governor was joined by the secretary of state in announcing they are going to move the primary election in Kentucky from May 19 to June 23.
"This is a bi-partisan move, the way the legislature wrote the law, requires both the governor and I to turn a key. He can't do it by himself and I can't do it by myself. You have a Democratic governor and a Republican Secretary of State who think this is the right answer. And we have some county clerks who are unanimous on this as well," said Secretary Michael Adams.
Earlier in the day, Beshear announced one person with the virus died. The victim was a 66-year-old man from Bourbon County. Officials say he had other health problems that contributed to the death.
Sister station WKYT reports the health department spent the weekend trying to figure out who he may have been in contact with. The man's employer, CMWA, said he worked there for 29 years. They are working with health officials to make sure his coworkers were safe. The man's identity is not being released to give the family privacy and time to grieve.

Governor Beshear announced Monday morning the first death from COVID-19.
The victim was a 66-year-old man from Bourbon County. Officials say he had other health problems that contributed to the death.
“Sadly, last night, we lost a Bourbon County man who was treated for multiple medical conditions and tested positive for COVID-19, which was a contributing factor,” said Gov. Beshear. “My family and every Kentuckian is lifting up his friends, family and community in our thoughts and prayers. While we have taken aggressive action to combat this world health pandemic, in the days and weeks ahead, we must continue to pull together as Kentuckians to stop the spread of this virus. We are a resilient people. We will beat this virus.”
The number of infected stands at 21. The governor said the state is not able to test as many people as he would like but state officials are working to make that possible.
Governor Beshear has also ordered all in-person dining to stop at restaurants and bars statewide starting at 5 p.m. Monday. He encouraged people to continue to support those restaurants that offer carry out, drive-thru and delivery service.
“We are to the point now where this is a step we have to take. I want to thank everyone that stepped up and did this voluntarily,” he said. “We are asking so many people to make sacrifices. It is not lost on me that most of these are small businesses. We are going to do everything we can to be there for you. We realize the impact this will have and we will be there for you.”
We are also told 14 of the 16 Kentuckians who were stranded on the Grand Princess cruise ship are back in Kentucky. The other two should be on their way back soon.
The governor also said he expects to give the order to close daycare centers for most later this week. He said there will be exceptions for healthcare workers and some others. With so many children at home the governor says during Tuesday’s news conference he will have some age-appropriate advice and instruction for kids.
The state is taking steps to waive the waiting period for unemployment for those who lose their jobs because of COVID-19. Work search requirements will also be waived during the state of emergency.
“We know the steps we are taking are going to cause people to lose their jobs,” the governor said. “We want you to be able to qualify for unemployment and we don’t want to create impediments that keep you from being able to get through this. We are going to make sure we get through this together.”
Beshear also said that the state Capitol is closed to nonessential personnel for now and suspended out-of-state travel for state employees.
The symptoms of the virus are fever, a dry cough and difficulty breathing or shortness of breath.
