WYMT brings home several AP awards

LEXINGTON, KY. (WYMT) - WYMT won 11 awards in the Kentucky Associated Press Broadcasters Association 2018 contest.

The awards for both professional and college competitions were announced at the annual awards banquet Saturday, April 13th at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Lexington.

WYMT competes in television, division two, which includes all stations in Kentucky besides Lexington and Louisville.

WYMT won first place awards in digital coverage (Lynnette Cooney and Kyle Collier) and news promotion (Chad Hurt).

WYMT won second place awards in feature reporting (Taylor Frost Smith), Public Affairs (Macy Marie), Sports Prep Show, Sports Special, Breaking News, Special Series (Connor James), Best Producer (Kyle Collier), Best Weather Anchor (Andrew Dockery) and Overall Excellence.

The Associated Press is a not-for-profit news cooperative representing 1,400 newspapers and 5,000 broadcast stations in the United States.
