Valentine's Day Forecast: Dry during the day, rain chances late tonight

HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Happy Valentine's Day! If you have big plans today, the weather should cooperate!

Today and Tonight
We'll start the day on a dry note and that should be the case well into the night tonight. Look for sun and clouds early with a chilly start to the day. That will change later as warm air surges in ahead of tomorrow's cold front.

Clouds will start to increase this afternoon along with the wind. We could see gusts up to 25 mph at times today. Our high should be close to 60 though.

Tonight, under cloudy skies, rain chances return to the area after midnight. Lows will drop into the mid to upper 40s.

Extended Forecast
Those rain chances will be the main story for Friday with highs in the low-mid 50s. Mostly cloudy skies and showers are expected for the end of the work week. This first system will be all rain for Friday during the day. Cold temperatures will slowly work back into the forecast, allowing for a transition to snow late Friday and into Saturday. Moisture will be available as another system works into the region Saturday morning.

While snow is possible on Saturday and Sunday, don't expect much, if anything, in the way of accumulation.

We'll keep you posted!
