Parkway reopened after two killed in head-on crash

Leslie County dispatch told WYMT two people are dead following a head-on crash around mile marker 46.
The call came in around 11:00 Sunday morning. Dispatchers told WYMT the crash happened on Hal Rogers Parkway, the road was closed for three to four hours while crews clear the scene. The roadway has since been cleared and reopened.
Dispatch said two people were involved in the two-car-crash. Both of them were pronounced dead.
Officials with KSP said Paul R. Howard, 45, crossed over the center line in his Chevrolet Avalanche and struck an SUV. The driver of the SUV struck by Howard was driven by Joan Sparks, 71. Officials with the Leslie County coroner's Office pronounced both Howard and Sparks dead at the scene.
