Troopers: Three people killed in Wise County, Virginia crash identified

WISE COUNTY, Va. (WYMT) - State police said three people are dead after a crash in Wise County.

According to Virginia State Police (VSP), it happened around 8:21 p.m. Friday on Route 23 at mile marker 48. VSP said two vehicles were involved in the crash.

Police said a 2006 Toyota Sienna was traveling south when it crossed into the median. The minivan hit a culvert and flipped over several times in the northbound lanes before colliding with a 2004 GMC Envoy. The minivan rolled over the SUV before coming to a stop, troopers said.

The driver of the minivan, Fred B. Russell, 60, died at the scene. Troopers said two passengers in the SUV, Pamela K. Stanley, 54, and John B. Stanley, 52, were taken to the hospital. Sunday, they died from their injuries.

The driver of the SUV was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Police are still investigating.
