PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - A Pike County man was arrested Friday for allegedly assaulting his brother with a gun.

Kentucky State Police troopers responded to a domestic call at a home in Rockhouse. The caller said Ronnie Holbrooks was extremely drunk and was using a loaded gun as a weapon.

When police arrived, Holbrooks told the troopers he did not have any guns. He also claimed he was having a verbal argument with his brother over who would have to make dinner.

The brother told troopers that Holbrooks gets violent when he drinks alcohol, and the officers noticed a strong scent of alcohol. Holbrooks then admitted to drinking liquor for most of the evening, police said.

After searching the home and asking Holbrooks to unlock his bedroom door, troopers found a loaded handgun, three rifles and a shotgun.

The brother also told police Holbrooks became angry when he did not make dinner. Holbrooks then allegedly assaulted his brother, hitting him in the head with the end of his handgun.

The men's mother was home but did not witness the fight. Police took Holbrooks to Pikeville Medical Center before taking him to the Pike County Detention Center.

Holbrooks faces charges of possession of a handgun and other firearms by a convicted felon, second-degree assault and first-degree wanton endangerment.
