RUSSELL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT/WKYT) - Updated, Monday
A cabin at Lake Cumberland State Resort Park was destroyed after a tree fell on it during Sunday's storms.

Sister station WKYT reports a family of six from Louisville was renting the cabin on vacation. Three were children.

The family was inside the cabin when the tree fell on it, knocking the house off its foundation and toppling it almost completely onto its side.

"They're very lucky because once the tree had went into the cabin, it took it off the foundation and behind it was quite of a drop and that's kind of what we were concerned mainly whether it was going to go over the hill or no," said H.M. Bottom, Russell County Emergency Manager.

The family was able to get out with the help of neighbors. Two children and one adult went to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Later, a fourth family member went to the hospital with chest pains, but all are doing okay now.

The area where the cabin is located is now closed off to the public for safety.
