Three arrested on drug charges
Detectives and deputies with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office arrested three people on drug charges Thursday.
The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office was conducting an investigation off Court Road, south of London, after receiving numerous complaints about drug use there.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they say Shane Botkins, 42, ran into the bathroom, threw his phone in the toilet and tried to climb out the window. Deputies say Botkins also had a used needle with him.
During their investigation, deputies found prescriptions for narcotic pills that had been filled earlier that day but were already missing 69 pills. A cut straw with residue on it was also found at the home.
Julie Osborne, 29, told deputies she came to the home to obtain nerve pills. She was arrested and charged with drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Botkins was arrested and charged with tampering with physical evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and wanton endangerment/neglect of an adult.
Craig Barrett, 45, was also arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and conspiracy to traffic in a controlled substance.
All three people arrested were booked in the Laurel County Detention Center. There was also an elderly woman living at the home that deputies say Botkins was endangering or neglecting. We do not know her condition at this time.
