The David School remembers former teacher who died Thursday night

DAVID, Ky. (WYMT) - When only 45 kids attend the school, students and teachers become more like family. Every student at The David School considered Floyd Davis a father figure.

"Every morning he'd get me to pour his coffee and put him some waffles in the toaster," said one of Mr. Davis' students, Anthony Lafferty.

From joking around in class to helping others all over the community, Davis did not let his disabilities keep him from serving others.

"You always saw Floyd outside with his kids although he was confined to a wheelchair,"

Davis died Thursday night in his sleep due to health issues.

"He was a staple in the community, not only at the school," said a former colleague of Davis, Jessica Thompson.

Though Davis will no longer be in the classroom, his impact on his students will carry on.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 4 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Sunday, May 5, starting at 1 p.m. and continuing up until the time of the service at 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made to The David School, 352 Success Bound Rd David, KY 41616.
