'The Banjo Man' Neal James, star on 'The Call of the Wildman' dies at 55

SPRINGFIELD, Ky. (WYMT) - People in Kentucky and all over the world are mourning the loss of 'The Banjo Man'.

Neal James died from natural causes Friday. He was found at his home in Washington County.

The 55-year-old Animal Planet star was known as "The Banjo Man" on the television show "The Call of the Wildman".

James was friends with "The Turtleman" Ernie Brown Jr. on the show. His friends tell us that James always brought a smile to their faces and had a positive attitude.

"It's a sad day because Neal had one of the biggest hearts of anyone I ever known. He was loved by not only this community but all over the world," said Jayme Phillips, a friend of James'. "He was recognized as The Banjo Man."

The visitation will be held on Monday, February 4 at Lincoln County High School Stuart Underwood Auditorium from 5-9pm.

A private funeral will be held on a later date.
