JENKINS, Ky. (WYMT) - After starting the season with low numbers, Jenkins will suspend their football program for the 2019 season. The Cavaliers had a couple injuries bunched with some unfortunate circumstances that led to the decision.
"We did everything we could to keep a team on the field," Head Coach Kenneth O'Quinn stated. "Despite those efforts, it just couldn't or wouldn't work out."
The Cavaliers had six seniors on their initial roster on the KHSAA website.
"I feel bad for the seniors. That's not the way anyone imagines their season ending," O'Quinn continued. At the end of the day, it is about the student-athletes. We just have to pick up the pieces and see what lies ahead.
The Cavaliers started the season 0-3. Coach O'Quinn also mentioned that they had four players injured in their first three games.
