LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - A police chase came to a fiery end in Laurel County.

Deputies say Mickey Wayne Grubb, 18, blew through a stop sign, causing police to chase after him.

Grubb allegedly nearly hit two people walking on the side of the road and a trooper during the chase.

Grubb lost control of the car on Barron Road, striking an embankment. The car burst into flames and Grubb ran away on foot, deputies said.

Police caught up to Grubb and arrested him. They took him to the Laurel County Detention Center.

"The only damage was the vehicle that we was chasing," said Deputy Gilbert Acciardo. "And there were no injuries to anybody involved, including the suspect, our officers or anyone traveling on the roadways."

Grubb faces multiple charges including fleeing or evading police, reckless driving and theft. Police say the car Grubb was driving was stolen.

Neighbors said Barron Road is usually a quiet backroad.

"I heard a siren. I ran outside to see if anything was wrong and I saw the car crashed into the bank and it was smoking," a neighbor said. "After finding out what happened and what did happen, now I'm a little, you know, now I'm a little more nervous about it."
