Sheriff: Teen injured in accidental shooting expected to survive

LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) - Update, Thursday
The Laurel County Sheriff's Office gave us an update on the injured teen's condition.

We are told the 14-year-old is expected to survive, but may face a long road to recovery.

The sheriff's office said another teenager was showing the victim the gun when it accidentally fired. The injured teen was shot in the stomach and chest.

The gun belonged to the family of the teen who accidentally fired it.

No word on when the victim will be released from UK Hospital.

The names of the two teenagers involved will not be mentioned because they are both minors.

A teenager was injured in an accidental shooting.

The Laurel County Sheriff's Department reported a 14-year-old was accidentally shot in the stomach and chest by another 14-year-old.

The shooting happened close to 5:30 Wednesday afternoon off Willie Cheek Road near London.

The teen was airlifted to UK Hospital in critical condition.
